Diamond Tail

Diamond Tail: Last but not least, the Diamond Tail. Diamond Tails are found everything from shortboards to longboards. They are extremely versatile, and can vary from wide to narrow, and from sharp points to soft and rounded. They can also be found on every performance level of surfboard. They fit in between a Rounded Pintail and a Squash Tail, and have been around longer than I have (which is a looong time, haha), as a matter of fact, the very first board that I ever owned as a kid was a Natural Progression brand board, with a Diamond Tail. And my new Wayne Rich “Checkmate” is a Diamond Tail, as you can see below, and my business partner Jose loves his Aipa “Bone Fish, also below:

On the left, 1. Is the Wayne Rich’s “Checkmate” model, it is a high-performance, competition level noserider longboard. Wayne has given it a soft, and slightly pulled-in Diamond Tail, with his magical combination of rails and rocker, to make a board that can be surfed off the tail, to go straight up and off the lip, or to let you hang your toes over the nose. 2. Is the Aipa “Bone Fish” model. It’s made of carbon fiber (strong, light, but expensive), and can be setup with virtually any fin configuration. With its wide and blunt Diamond Tail, it fits in between a shortboard and a fish, making it amazing in many kinds of surf.
